Wheels lock up with a 2 day old Daylight 4449
Looks like when the side rail is all the way back it pushes the last 2 drive wheels to one site
This happens in both forward and reverse

I have tried to loosen the side rails nuts and tighten, same problem

The Engine worked great for a few hours this this started ???

I am looking for any ideas before I open a service ticket.
I do not want to send in my new engine

LAN_MAN,

It sounds to me that the "Quartering" may not be correct. Quartering is the relationship/position of the driver wheels to eachother. The driver wheels on the port side (left) need to be all exactly lined up with respect to the position of the small bolt that holds the drive rod to them.
Next on the starboard side (right) all of the wheels also need to be exactly lined up 90' off the position of the portside drivers. This is "Quartering" The left side of drivers need to be in a 90' rotated position from the right side drivers.
If this was not done properly at the factory, binding and excess wear on the drive train will occur.
One other item that may be the cause is the electric motor may have loose mounting screws. This is something that you may want to check. Remove the boiler shell and check for tight mounting screws.

                                                Hope this helps...671

I may have found the problem.
The front set of drive wheels are not locket to the axes
The don't turn together
The other 3 pair of wheels are locket and turn together
You can hold one wheel on the front drive set and rotated the other.

None of my other steamers do this, All wheels are locket to the axes.
move the right wheel and the left wheel will moved.

Looks like I need to open a service ticket

After talking with Tech Support I send my engine in
When should I hear from them, and will I hear from them?
Or will they just fix the engine and send it back?

:( From past experience in December, they never contacted me and it took 6 weeks to get it back! :(

Same here. The two times I sent something back, it took 4 weeks, and I had no communication with them.
If your parents never had children, chances are you won't either.
