I might as well post some photos of my first model project--the Old Mainline Coaches, started and completed last year.

My Edward baybeh but seriously you did do an amazing job on the coaches, and stepney, awesome Artur, but where did you get the screwlink couplings from, I might try adding them to my trains, but need to know where their from, sprinkle us with your wisdom stepney

Nice coaches there, I remember seeing them on SRMF. Got to say they look smart with Edward 

Been working on my own Arthur too.



Whilst you could say he was a Standard 3MT on the show, they were never LMS locomotives. Given his livery, I'd put my money on him being an Ivatt 2MT as used by the LMS. That said, I feel the 2MT is far closer to the one on the show. Regardless, either is suitable for conversion.



I bought the donor model a few years ago with the aim of making him, but I guess I wasn't sure on how to go about it. The obvious modification needed was removing the top feed from the boiler, and this thankfully came off with a few scrapes of my trusty scalpel. I then sanded it down and got it smooth, before filling in holes left by the cuts.

The donor also had it's rivets removed, as these are not present on Arthur in the Television series. This meant sanding the roof, boiler and sides to get them flush.





A coat of primer later showed a few imperfections, although these were later sorted out. As he stands now, it's coming along nicely. Some transfer paper has been ordered so I can complete him as a fully accurate TV series model. Posed here with his wooden face, which may be thinned down so it doesn't stick out as much.

Nice video.

Thanks to a friend and some very helpful advice, i have made some adjustments to Arthur's running plate/buffer beam, it has been made straight and more accurate, will post updated photos later.

That is a good face, Caleb. I already gave my critique though on the video. As for the Arthur models from both Stepney and Churchill, yours is going fine Churchill, despite the few sections of footplate to be added at the front, and as for Stepney, your welcome for the advice, and I can see it still needs a slight more bit of work, particularly smoothing out the footplate where it was edited.

I think i'll work on it abit more over the weekend and get the grooves smooth out with a file and some model putty, i'm hoping that the last few bits will ensure that the plate is smooth and more accurate.

If all else fails, i will redo the footplate, got plenty of styrene sheets in certain thickness's.

But yes it will most certainly be worked on through the weekend, won't be too long before the next model railway exhibition, where i aim to find more Diesel shunters for my next project conversions.

Paxton, is just needing a face, since he's already done, but i am waiting for the release of the Trackmaster model.

Arry and Bert, i will make similar to my partners models, since he did a really lovely job on his diesels, he's inspired me to update my own versions. Just again, need to get another Trackmaster Arry/Bert model.

Splatter and Dodge, the two side-kicks of Diesel 10, should be easy enough to do.

Morning all.

Well, after a lot of careful work, it looks as though i have had to build a whole new front running plate for Arthur, which isn't a bad thing really IMO, makes room for much needed improvements, and after some careful time and work cutting, filing and gluing, the new buffer beam, is now much better than the original.





Looking at TV references above for the running plate, I've been able to adapt one to suit my model using what styrene sheets i had available, and so far, i am pleased with the results of the work done.









Steps and vacuum pipes are the only things left to add before i prime and paint the new running plate, overall though, i think it looks great, especially for this class of LMS engine.
