new ho locomotive spinning/slipping on track after 2 hrs use

bought ho new 2 wks ago for grandson..put together..ran ok for about 2 hrs..not constant use..tried again and locomotive slips/spins like on ice..thought maybe oil on track..wipped w/alcohol..still no good

Which HO loco? Look under the loco. Anything dragging?
If a diesel, the drive rod inside may have slipped out of one of the trucks. The other truck would spin the wheels.
