Trouble Converting 4-8-4 Niagra from DCC to DC

Just received the 4-8-4 Niagara Steam Item No. 50302 and want o convert to DC from DCC.  Having problems opening tender to get to DCC unit, I do not want to force - any suggestions?

It is my understanding that it will run on DC as it is.

I am concerned because they include jumpers for dummy plug operation

I believe all dcc on board comes with dummy plugs ...the first train I got for my little engineer was dcc and it ran dc for about 6-8 months with no problem
