dirt effects?

Heh Train lovers  ::)
i made another post that said "grass effects?"
and id like to ask more people
for dirt effects
would i take top soil and grill it as they say for organisms?
and another question
i want to make a farm field how would i do that?
with the dirt?

I think paint works better than dirt.

yea i considered paint
i don't know if it would look as good as real dirt
you have it on your layout?

I seem to remember an article that used wide wale corduroy as a base for a plowed field.  The writer used brown fabric, painted it with lighter shades of brown, and used finely sifted (and sterilized) soil over that.  Looked pretty decent.

For dirt I just paint the plaster for texture I stipple on a mixture of gravel and latex earth paint:

Most ground areas are covered with vegatation

I use dirt from the garden, sterilized, dried and sieved.  Saturating it with denatured alcohol sterilizes it quickly and helps it dry faster.
Growing older is mandatory but growing up is optional.
