Hello Bachmann Trains,
I am a student at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona and my group and I have been assigned a project where we must make a diagram of the 'Creation to Consumption' Logistics that go into creating a G Scale Model Train. We picked your company, Bachmann Trains, as the company to do our project on.

What we need from you would be an outline of the logistics process that your company takes, starting with raw materials and ending with the train in the customer's hands.

Here are a few questions.

If you could please take the time to answer them that would be great! We understand that you are busy and we are very appreciative of the time you give us!

Questions:
Where do you get all the raw materials for your G Scale Model Trains?

How many different companies do you get these raw materials from?

What (if any) materials do you produce yourself?

What services do you perform on the trains? (Such as: painting, welding, etc...)

How long does the entire production cycle take?

Do you make the trains ahead of time or wait for the order to be placed? (Made to order / Made to ship)

What different ways do you receive orders?

How do you get your finished product to the customer?

What method of shipping do you use the most and why?

Any other important information that goes into the logistics behind your company?

Thank you so much for your time!

Some of those questions involve information useful to Bachmann's competitors, so I suspect you're not going to get much in the way of answers on a public forum like this. It would probably be more appropriate to contact Bachmann's corporate offices regarding this type of information.

If at first you don't succeed, throw it in the spare parts box.

I would say He went at it in the wrong way.  You don't go to public from to get it.  He should have written a letter to the corp. office.

Dear Nick,
Give Philadelphia a call and ask for Mr. Riley.
He'll be happy to help!
Have fun!
