Lights not working on a GP 40

Hi, I have a Bachmann GP 40 and a Spectrum 2-10-0.
they run great using a Digitrax dsc51, however I can't get the lights to work on func 0 or func 10. I've tried changing the speed step to 28. which did not work. Please help

do the lights work if you run the locomotive on dc?

Try resetting the decoder and testing the locomotive on address 03 before you start doing anything fancy.  Many decoder support remapping, which means your lights could be assigned to a different function number, or to none at all.  Even if you have not been programming the decoder, it is possible that the program has been corrupted by some other misadventure.
