Unnofficial Survey on Bachmann practices

Wade Colyer and I have been talking about this for years.  We have suggested it to no avail.  We felt it would lead to higher sales and give the buyer and easy way to get different road numbers with a minimum of trouble.
Please give your responses as yes or no or no opinion. If you want to express a longer opinion please do it in a separate post. 

Question 1

Should Bachmann change the road numbers each time they rerun a car or loco?

Would you buy more product if they did?

Question 2
After an initial run with numbers, should Bachmann run locos or rolling stock without numbers and provide numbers for application by the buyer?

If yes, what would you prefer, Waterslide decal, rub on dry transfer, or rub on vynil???

   In my opinion, this practice would be a great help as well as an incentive to those of us doing up their own personal or "faticy" Rail Road, as well as those who model one or two specific roads. Having to renumber a mess of cars to get multiple road numbers can be a pain at times.               Later All.......S.B.

Question 1a - Sure why not.

Question 1b - Nope. I custom letter my own stuff, so I buy what I need and do it myself already.

Question 2a - I think undecorated/unnumbered locos/rolling stock should always be an option, if the manufacturer is setting up to do multiple options like that. I do not think it's necessarily up to the manufacturer to provide numbers, because when people buy undecorated locos/rolling stock, they typically do so with the intention of lettering them for their own railroads, not just new numbers of the pre-selected railroads Bachmann chooses.

Question 2b - My preference would be for dry transfers, as they're much thinner than vinyl, and far easier to apply than waterslide decals.

Perhaps a sheet of number decals (I prefer waterslide)with the intended car body color as a background--this could then blank out the original number.  At least on cars with background colors in hte reds, browns, greens, etc.  Black backgrounds should be no problem.  gj

Hi,
    That is a good idea, Yes, Yes and I don't mind.
It would save a lot of hassle in scraping off the number and trying to find lettering that is approximately the right size in white.
Since Letraset stopped turning out the rub down lettering this is very hard to obtain now in different sizes.
