No one posted any nasty put-downs, at least none that I know of. The Bachmann Admins just deleted the Hornby vs. Bachmann Thread. Possibly for this reason:

This forum is provided to discuss Bachmann model trains, associated products and techniques. You may mention and discuss the products of other manufacturers, but please don't use our board for their announcements. Also, please refrain from criticizing other manufacturers, as they are not here to respond.

This is from the Forum Code of Conduct. Maybe the admins felt that comparing Hornby's products with Bachmann's was a breach of the code.

Dear everyone,

I returned from my first day of college (substitute til next week, so not much is going on the first week), missing whatever buzz happened this morning. What I heard was the threads were deleted because of peoples replies were criticizing Hornby in a nonconstructive and negative manner, and not because of the actual topics intended content. I'm sorry Bachmann Admins about my slight misunderstanding. It's a shame though that the threads were removed. I owe a public apology for my rash post.

I think everyone should take note of this incident as how we should behave in the future. In Simons models reviews, he compared Hornby and Bachmann very fairly and gave the pros and cons of both, then giving his personal opinion. My Duck thread was about Bachmanns future products, and showing how some US customers are disadvantaged at the lack of ability to reach Hornby Duck. Both companies obviously have their pros and cons, and I am proud to shop with both of them. There never is a need for rude unsupported comments about the quality of one product versus another.

I sure hope that Bachmann is taking input for its product line from Simon, me, and everyone else who contributes their honest fair opinions. I have a strong feeling we'll be seeing Duck soon.  Anyway, I'm glad this scenario is in order for me now. Looking forward to Diesel, Donald, and Douglas.
