2012: Your Predictions

I thought it would be nice to see what everyone thinks will be made for next year's Thomas line.

Do be sensible - 3 locos max if you have a twin set predicted, and just a few items of stock - don't go listing everything that appears in the series because it won't happen in one year!
Do give a reason also for why you think.

For me:
Engines:

Duck:   Duck has been in demand for a long time now, and what with engines 1-7, 9+10 and diesel available, it only seems the right move to make to release engine 8, which is garruntead to sell well.
Arry + Bert:   With the model for Diesel now out, these two diesels have a very good chance of being made - a simple repaint and two new faces, and they have two more characters to market. With these two Diesels appearing more in the series these days, they will certainly sell well, and will complete a "Devious" team for many fans to go along with their Diesel model, terrorising the other engines. 

Rolling Stock:
Red Coaches:   Again, another model that has been in demand for a long time, I can see these being added to the range to bring more passenger stock out. These coaches have, again, appeared often in the series, can be coupled to any engine and look right, and have a market ready for them.

Buildings:
Buildings are a tad trickier to predict, I shall post mine soon when I have thought more thoroughly about it.

Large Scale:
Emily (The coaches are out, it's only right she is next.)
Brake van - we have the trucks, now we need a brake van for the end.

So, these are my predictions, what are yours?

For me I would love to see

Engines: Duck, Oliver

Rolling Stock: Red Branchline Coaches, Toad (IF Oliver is made)

Buildings: Not sure

LS: Emily or Toby, Breakvan

Therailwayinspector, I pretty much agree with that. Bachmann Duck, Arry and Bert really seems to be the most likely outcome in my book.

Considering all the recent surprises though, I wouldn't put it beyond Bachmann to make BoCo out of nowhere.. which I would rather over Arry, Bert, and Oliver!

-CGI updated trucks, wagons, etc. (We all know it is going to happen, so there is no use in complaining)

-Tidmouth Station (Or another station on Sodor. We have Knapford jow, and you cannot have just one station on a layout)
Figures:
-Lady Hatt
-Dowager Hatt (I do not really see her in 2012, but maybe in 2013 or so)

Large Scale
Engines:
-Emily (The coaches are kind of a give away)
-Edward (If not 2012, 2013 or so)
-Toby (Similar to Edward)
Rolling Stock:
-A truck or two
Henrietta (If Toby is introduced, he needs his loyal coach)
-Brakevan (It does make sense)

In the future (Say 2014-2016) I think I see Gordon and Henry on their way, but I would not be surprised if one of them is introduced in 2012 and 2013, Bachmann has been rather sneaky lately

A twins at work set which includes Bill, Ben, 5 trucks filled with stone, a controller and that stuff needed and a oval of track.

Red Branchline Coaches.

Here's what I think's to come. In no particular order, and at any given time..:

HO: Engines

• Arry and Bert (They're just Diesel without the ladders, different faces/colors)
• Duck (because he's popular and would fill the gap between 7 & 9)
• Somebody else... Rosie or Molly perhaps (prominent background characters)
  

HO: Stock

• The Works Coach
• Toad (simply because he's a brakevan with a face..)
• Two more 'Troublesome Trucks'
• The China Clay wagons, or perhaps the red wagons used in 'Henry's Forest'.
• The Red Branchline Coaches, or perhaps a rerelease of the Red express coaches?

HO: Off-rail Vehicles:

• TFC's Car (we have TFC, his car might sell to those who really want it)
• Trevor (although small parts may be an issue..)

HO: Buildings/ Accessories:

• Another Sodor-y station, with one platform. Like Ffarquar, Wellsworth, or Dryaw.
• Signals. In a pack.

Large Scale: Engines

• Toby
• Diesel

(I don't say Emily, because despite having her own coaches, she is large and most likely wouldn't preform well, like her HO counterpart. Diesel and Toby seem much more likely, as they are shorter characters and are recognized more by younger fans.

• A vent van, with opening doors
• A previously unreleased tanker, or a new troublesome truck

P.S.: Does anyone know the Faller Car-System? The make Faller made a System where cars can drive on their own with an accumulator on roads. I want to use this system in my layout which is far away in the future. Okay, here's 2014.

All very well, can we stick to 2012 on the 2012 thread though? We'll get to 2013, 14 etc   Hope I'm not sounding rude.


Some interesting predictions coming to light.

My predictions for buildings is:

Maithwhaite Station   - a regular appearer in the series, and will be nice and small - a large building like the Steamworks would be expensive and most likely not sell too well in the end. So I can see this small station being introduced.

Non-Rail Characters:
Trevor -   Trevor has been in huge demand on the forums for a start, and would be a much appreciated addition to the range after Terence last year.
Dowager Hatt -   Dowager has been appearing more and more in recent years, so it wouldn't surprise me to see her made into a figure ahead of Lady Hatt.

As said, there are are some interesting predictions.
What out of that so do you think will be the most likely product released next year? For me, it's definately Duck.

Yes, Duck seems to be the most logical choice, 1) Because he's a popular classic character, and 2) because he'd fill in the 7 and 9 gap. 'Arry and Bert also sounds like a good prediction, since Bachmann's been favoring the sets of twins, and because they already have the tooling from Diesel. As for characters like Hiro, Stanley, and others introduced season 8 onwards, I doubt they will be made for a long time, since Bachmann seems to be sticking to the well-known classic characters (a.k.a. Seasons 1-7).
