cabooses with both cupolas and bay windows were not as unusual as you'd think. penn central modified a whole series of former new haven cars by blakinig off the cupolas and adding bay windows.

the little pulley and belt is in fact an alternator or a generator used for lighting and charging the batteries. it worked similar to an alternator in a car. these were also common on cabooses.

The Mop also had some old wooden cabooses.  They were what the Mop called a baggage-coach caboose which was built by the Mop for use in mixed train service on branch lines.

I've seen old wooden offset cupola and bay window combos, but never a centered one!
