Your Hornby controller from the UK is 240v only. You will need a transformer, the link above is just a pin adapter.

I have moved from UK to Canada and am so disappointed with the lack of HO scale kids trains.... UK retailers are much cheaper and have more varied trains and sets.

Any pointers to a (reasonably priced) US or Canadian retailer for HO scale is much appreciated.
