Engine squeal

Hi there,
I just bought an HO Bachmann 0-6-0 AT&SF engine and tender on ebay. I tested it tonight and the electric motor squeals like mad on start up then quiets down after a few minutes. It never actualy stopped sqealing, it just got quieter. It has a small "pancake" style motor that I haven't seen before. Does anyone have any idea how to fix the problem? I'm afraid I'll burn out the motor if I keep running it this way.

Most likely what your needing to do is to put a very small drop of oil on the driver axel bearings,if it is the motor itself a drop of oil on the motor shaft front and back should solve the problem.

Be sure to use plastic-compatible oil,
and use half of the tiniest amount
you think you need.

By the way, is sewing machine oil ok on plastic?
If not I'll try the hobby shop.

I wouldn't risk it...I looked under the hood of my wife's sewing machine and didn't see any plastic.      Bachmann and Labelle both sell suitable lubricants.

Wahl clipper oil is a good compatible oil that is also a conductive oil.  Works very well on those old pancake motors!  Stephen
