Green and red wire

New train builder hear, how do you hook up the green and red wires.  We just finished building the table and I need to drill holes for the green wires to go through.  I'm not sure what the green and red wires are for but it appears to be for the switching section, but for the life of me I can not get them to work. Any help would be appreciated.

connections to the track should have two wires. connections from the switch controllers to the switches should have 3 wires. connections from the ac terminals of the power pack to the switch controllers should have two wires. i am not familiar with what colours bachmann uses for these wires, they vary by manufacturer but the basic wiring is the same regardless of wire colour.
