Does anyone know if this steam locomotive is DCC ready? How much of a pain is it to install a decoder?

Trains Again

Yes. All Spectrum engines are DCC ready. :)

DrDialtone

Thank you for your reply. It says nothing about being DCC ready with the information that came with the engin.  ???

The NMRA 8 pin plug is in the tender.  Cut the capacitors.  If you want a sound decoder, put the speaker under the coal load with small holes (#70 or smaller) drilled in it and a hole in the rear bunker sheet to allow the wires between speaker and decoder.

Thank you for the info. It doesn't show any of that with the instructions.  Any decoder preferance? Sound of course. Thank you again for your help.

I have a Tsumani in one and an MRC in the other.  The Tsunami is easier to program.  The MRC is easier to install.   Blind tests give the MRC higher marks than the Tsunami.
