slope made out of 26"R track

how can i measure out 100 inches of 26"R curve track to make a 3% slope?

I assume that you're talking about EZ-Track?  If so,  you'll need a friend.  Get a flexible tape measure.  Have your friend help you hold onto the the tape and measure the running length of a section of your track, that is, measure along the center line.  Divide that length into 100 and you'll know how many sections of track you'll need.  The circumference of a circle is calculated by pi X D where pi is roughly 3.14 and D is the diameter of the circle...in your case, 52 inches.  So you'll need roughly 2/3's of a circle of 26"R track to equal 100 inches.  As far as the slope is concerned, prop up the high end 3" off the ground and support the remaining track down the grade with something like blocks of styrofoam so that the grade is smooth.  Just eye-balll it.  Hope this helps.

To clarify, a 3% grade is the equivalent of three inches elevation rise for 100 inches of track.  Use a tape measure on its side and it will bend around your curves and everything.

or.....

you could use a set of 3% risers from woodland scenics and take all the guesswork out of it......this is the same stuff that bachmann uses on their layouts in the photos section, and they do a pretty good job of showing how to use them.....

ill post pics it looks good its amazing what cardboard dose. a coat of black paint and u won't even be able to tell.
