out of the box, identical locomotives may not run exactly the same but they should be close. as for double heading them on dcc, not sure how the ez command works, but most dcc systems allow you to mu two locomotives together as a consist. the act of consisting the two locomotives together will set the direction. this is different than programming a locomotive to run, say, long hood first. just remember to break up the consist if you ever want to run them seperately or you will find they both respond to the same address.

The E-Z Command requires you to program the loco to run the opposite direction (if you have one unit facing the opposite direction as the other) in the consist or else you will have one loco going in each direction when you apply the power.

Unlike DC, where any two locos placed on the track would run in the same direction, DCC requires that you designate a front to every locomotive, just like the real railroads do since dieselisation.  That's why the "F" is on the front sidesills of all diesel and electric locomotives so you know without a doubt which end is the front.

If you want to run several locomotives in multiple, you need to set them all up so that they all have a common forward and reverse, regardless of which way they are facing.  This is just like the hostlers have to do on the real railroads when they are setting up and m.u.ing a locomotive consist.  When the engineer on the lead unit sets his locomotive to "forward" he needs to know that all locomotives in the consist will all move in the same direction.  That's the hostler's job to ensure that the consist is correctly "set up".   Just like in DCC.

In fact, any decent DCC throttle will have a "consisting" menu selection to make this as easy as possible.  Well, as easy as anything is in DCC.
