If your loco is too heavy to lift, you'd better be able to ride in, on or behind it.

Dolly Parton, Emmie Lou Harris and Lina Ronstadt  did an album years ago called "Trio." On it is a song called "Are there boxcars in heavan?" Very nice.

Box Car Willie has left the earth. I enjoyed his music. I don't think he was ever a hobo. He was a decorated WWII bomber pilot.

I saw Johnny Cash mentioned a couple times... don't forget, 'Folsum Prison Blues'.

One of the best Johnny Cash did was "wreck of the old 97"

There have been several versions of "The Orange Blossom Special" around; a couple include outstanding fiddle solos.  The Seldom Scene did versions of "The Panama Limited" and "Old Train".  There is also their cover of "Paradise", in which "Mr. Peabody's coal train has hauled it away".  Another standard is "The Midnight Special" covered by lots of folks.  In years past, both Carstens and National Geographic put out train song LP's.  Mine are in semi-storage, so I don't have ready access to all of the titles.  Most have been mentioned here, though.

In a previous post I mentioned the "Trio" album with Dolly Parton and others. I can't believe I bought the cassette in 1987! The album is available from Amazon on CD or as an MP-3 album from Amazon. The title of the song I mentioned was "Hobo's Meditation." This album is kind of country/bluegrass.
