DCC Socket Polarity - Pacific

Hi,
I have a "DCC Ready" K4 4-6-2 Pacific.
When I take off the tender cover, I see the DCC plug, but no polarity markings. Which end is the "Red end", and which is the "Black end".
Also, do I need to cut any of the leads to the capacitor, the diodes, or the wire wound resistors? Are those lamps or LEDs in the head light and reverse light?

Most of the time one end is labeled with either a 1 or a 8.

Only if you plan on installing a non-Bachmann decoder.

I'm not sure, I don't have a pacific handy.

there will be a pin 1 indicator somewhere. Pin 1 is orange on the decoder plug.
Also the colors wires on the plug should be plain.
nmra has designed this connector so there will be no issues except the loco will run reverse of what the dcc controller indicates and the lights will be reversed if the connector is plugged wrong.

there should be one or two capacitors to cut. they should be labeled c1, c2, some have a third capacitor, c3.
my spectrum 70 ton had three capacitors.
there will be two inductors that look like resistors. with the capacitors  out of the circuit, those inductors do nothing.
My two motor 44 ton had inductors wound with wire. Very plain to see.
just plug in the decoder, the resistors are on the pc board if led's.
done that with three spectrum locos.
