Since we are at it,,lets throw in an ore dock!

At this point, whats another $130?

That would be all that money plus the frustration of building it all. I have to admit though, that it would look freakin sweet when it's done.

from a google map search. the remains of two  Huletts that have been disassembled and awaiting someone to buy them and restore them.

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&resnum=0&q=whiskey%20island%20marina%20cleveland%20oh&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl

x out the pop up windows and increase the magnification. the parts are on the ground inside the railroad loop at the lower left of the coal pile.

I think i found them on google maps
on the Calumet River between  E 100th St on the north and E 106th St on the south..they are closer to E 100th on the west side of the river.
They look like red boxes,,one is unloading a coal barge the other just to the south of it is idle in this shot.
I-90 Chicago Skyway is just to the East and north. Calumet Park is to the N.E.

Go here
http://maps.google.com/

try Calumet River   East Side in the search maps area  and once there zoom in ,,you'll find them

That's them, they are just sitting side by side at the south end of the dock

PD,

Just south of E. 114th St. if it bridged over the river?

Thanks.

Joe
If your loco is too heavy to lift, you'd better be able to ride in, on or behind it.

Actually if you follow the river south for a few blocks you'll see them with a Google marker stating the last 2 hulett unloaders

forgot to mention your post. i wanted to increase the size of your photo and that was the only way i could think of doing it. it can be difficult to use google maps at times.

in my town. i can see my house from the street in goggle maps. I can read the plate on my stepsons suv that is in the driveway. the google camera vehicle went through our complete city at street level about three years ago and took 360 degree  photo shots.

whoops,,,,looks like i was a bit off target there.
I did not scroll that far south on the river.
By the looks of the two further south and compared to the photo of the
model by Walthers, and mean the Length of those beasts, looks like those are the right ones.
The first pair by 100th st that i thought were them must be a different type of unloader. ,,,now to figure what kind they are.

Good Eye and catch award to Joe S. and pdletbridge!

Down at the club a member has assembled a Edmound fitzgerald Ore boat that sits next to the Walthers ore docks . the model is about 13'+ long. We will soon be adding a 2nd boat with 3 Hulett unloaders that will serve as the ore load out for our trains. I will have to get you guys some pics of the progress. We plan to tie in the ore docks with the steel mills section that is also under construction. I did not know what a Hulett was untill a few months ago.

Thanks for posing those vids. amazing how they unload the great lake boats. next time im down in the city I will have to stop over and try to get some pics of the old Huletts. Got a friend that is a Chicago cop and might get over there without any trouble?
