HO Dual Crossing Gates....dead track. WHY???

Oh man, bought this last year for a good buck or 2 from Bachmann.  Just hooked up the ez track to my "Christmas town" and vwa la.....no juice goes through the track.   ready to smash with a hammer. Tried in 2 locations on track.  Anyone have similar issues?

Hmmmmm.....its the piece of plastic at the center of the track.  Must lift my train off the tracks.....Thats just great.
