Empty Socket On EP5 Circuit Board

On my recently acquired EP5 the circuit board has an empty socket with two connector pins.  What is the purpose of this socket?

Hi Pete:

It can be used for additional motors on a second powered unit.  This allows them to be controlled by one reverse board. You would have to run a wire harness to the second unit.
