Williams HUD-125 "O" Scale Santa Fe Hudson

When was this loco produced? Does it have sound? If not, could a sound board be added and be powered off the tender tether?

Hello Ed,

I cannot give you an accurate build date on that loco since it was manufactured several times with that item number.

The tether has four wires 2 for AC input and 2 for DC motor output.  If the aftermarket sound system can be installed using this power hookups, there is plenty of room in the tender for almost anything made for this application.

Thank you, 3rd rail! Does anyone know if this loco is supposed to have the factory electronic whistle and bell? Or is that dependent on the manufactured date?

It depends on the date.  First versions had whistle only, later versions had whistle & bell, and one year also had chuff.

HUD-125 had to have built prior to 2007, it's an old WILLIAMS cat.number. The HUDSONS were introduced in 1995, and they came in a square red box w/blue letters. Between 1995 and approx.2000, they had a WHISTLE only. After that date (approx) the had whistle AND bell with the introduction of TRUEBLAST II. The TRUEBLAST I was a whistle only. Under the Bachmann reign, they should now have Whistle, Bell AND Chuff.
