How powerful is a 0-4-0T

I don't know if this has been on before. Triple headed 0-4-0Ts towing a dead Berkshire.

a lot depends on the weight and tractive effort of the 0-4-0T.  They range from 8 tons or less (example the Bachmann On30 loco) to the B&O C-16 class (the "Dockside")  which I think was about 60 tons--at least the axle load was the same as a Big Boy--somehow 30 tons per axle sticks with me. 

A heavy 0-4-0T could probably move a dead Berk.  Not very fast---and if it was a really dead loco--it was probably drained of all water.  gj

I heard something about 1225 broke the day i went... but this must have been Sunday or Friday! They had the 2 little river steamers pull her.

Impressive photo ! 

Locally in Altoona at an old Juniata shop we have the Union Tank Car Co. that cleans and refurbishes rolling stock.  The other day I saw a little 4-wheeled motorized or electrified cab, about the size of a small pickup truck slowly moving a string of about ten large covered hoppers, boxcars and empty tank cars.  I suppose total weight would be similar to No. 1255.  Wish I would have had my movie camera.  Has anyone seen similar ?

small locos can pull remarkable loads--although not very fast.  One of my favorites was the plant switcher at Spreckels Sugar refinery as Spreckels, near Salinas, CA.  4 SP GP-9's would bring in a long string of beet racks, and this little 44-tonner would grab on and drag the whole train into the plant.
